Semantic Search Vocabulary
From SWUIWiki
Hildebrand et al. are conducting a survey on the role of semantics in current end user search applications. A paper with an analysis of this survey is submitted to the International Semantic Web Conference 2007. We maintain and extend the survey on Semantic_Search_Survey. On this page we are compiling a common vocabulary of terms (including definitions) that are applicable to semantic search. We also list the terms that describe some generic characteristics of web systems, as used in the survey. Feel free to contribute to the vocabulary and definitions on the Wiki pages or by emailing the author.

High level overview of text-based query search: (a) query construction, (b)
search algorithm of the system, (c) presentation of the results. Dashed lines represent user feedback. Figure adapted from Guidelines for the TRECVID 2007 Evaluation.

System Classification
In the survey we have classified the systems on several characteristics. Bellow we state the terms that we used. For the terms that already have a clear definition (almost all) we simply link to the entries in wikipedia.
